Small talks with the Belgian Shun Geek and Meilyli
Meilyli and Shun Geek form a duo to represent Belgium during the ECG Finals, and tell us about their preparation.
How do you feel about the upcoming ECG Finals ?
Meilyli & Shun Geek: We still don’t realize. We were just going for fun and give ourselves a challenge, we didn’t expect to qualify. So we are really glad, but stressed at the same time, because we want to give the best of ourselves and to be proud during the ECG Finals!
Why did you decide to make this character for the selections ?
M & SG: We looked into the licences we had in common and naturally we went towards our love: Disney. We wanted to make costumes that would motivate us until the end, but also a nice story to tell and play on stage, because that is an important aspect for us. We knew that The Nightmare Before Christmas - one of our favorite movie - would bring us this aspect.
Which part of your costumes are you the proudest of ?
Shun Geek: Personally, I struggled with the patchwork and the embroideries for Sally, which are not as simple and as easy as it sounds, along with the Oogie Boogie puppet… so I am really happy to have done those two tasks.
Meilyli: As for me, I would say that I am proud of my whole costume, even if it is far from being perfect. I experienced many first times: first cosplay, first real pants, etc. I struggled a lot, but µI also learned a lot.
Can you give us a hint about what you plan to do for the Finals?
M & SG: For the ECG Finals, we will stay within our magnificent Halloween Town! We take back our baseline from the selections and we will improve the whole thing in order to give an even more beautiful show. We truly want to give the best of ourselves, as it is a project that we love so much! And, you know, Oogie is watching...
