Interview with the British representatives
Kyokyo and Dewnor, the British representatives for the ECG Season 8, offered us some of their time to share their feelings about the ECG and the upcoming finals!
How do you feel about the upcoming ECG Finals?
Kyokyo: I am very excited to not only have a chance to bring the best of my abilities to ECG, but to be part of such an amazing experience. I look forward to going to my first event outside the UK, and to meet so many wonderful people whilst seeing even more wonderful cosplays.
Dewnor: Terrified and excited. Terr-cited? I'm obviously really excited to compete and do the best we can! And I'm going to meet all these stunningly talented and lovely cosplayers from other countries (in my first ever non-UK Con too!). But it's also really scary just how big the event is, I honestly can’t wait though!
Why did you decide to make this characters for the selections?
Kyokyo: It’s something both me and my team mate were very excited for. To be able to bring the characters to life at such a good opportunity, that we’re both passionate for, just couldn’t be missed. I’d actually already made Mami before, so to remake her with my improved abilities has been such a good experience.
Dewnor: I fell in love with Puella Magi Madoka Magica much later than my team mate but it was something we both adored so much it just made perfect sense to cosplay from! I also really really wanted to make a crinoline and experiment with stage tricks (like our transformation outfits!).
Which parts of your costumes are you the proudest of?
Kyokyo: I’m super proud of my skirt bounce, and how it moves when spinning. It really makes me feel like a magical girl.
Dewnor: I really like our magical girl transformations and our stage props! But in terms of my actual costume I think my favourite bit is the 30m of box pleated trim on the false petticoat!
Can you give us a hint about what you plan to do for the Finals?
Kyokyo: Let’s say there is going to be a lot of gold and silver required for our costumes, I hope everyone will be as eager to see them as we are to finish and wear them.
Dewnor: We're going to be super shiny; reflective like ice, maybe even a bit mirror-like really.
