Talking with the Spanish representatives
It’s now up to the Spanish representative group to tell us more about their feelings about the selections and especially the upcoming finals!
How do you feel about the upcoming ECG Finals?
Arien, Vanilla & Usagitxo: SUPER EXCITED!!!! We have been fighting for this for four years (non-stop since 2014), and have won bitter second places three times, so... this is finally a dream come true for us!!!! We are especially happy that we'll meet every country's representatives at the ECG and have an incredibly good time together!
Why did you decide to make these character for the selections?
Arien, Vanilla & Usagitxo: We are huuuge fans of musicals! And of course, Disney is always in our cosplay plans. We really enjoy the whole process of making a musical.
Every part of a film, game or music skit inspires us to do a better performance in our own way with extra magic and tricks. Everything is possible if you use creativity! So why not fly if you dress as Peter Pan??
Be Our Guest (Beauty and the Beast) especially had everything we were looking for, a special performance for the Spanish ECG selection: dancing, magic tricks, a climactic moment, amazing costumes… So we didn’t need to discuss much!
Which part of your costume are you the proudest of?
Arien, Vanilla & Usagitxo: Lumiere's candles were a big challenge for Usagitxo. They were super heavy and bulky because of all the electronics inside, and she had to move and use her own hands in the skit too! Mrs Potts had such an unusual skirt-shape that Vanilla had to achieve, but a greater challenge was her teapot sleeve that was awkward and hard to wear.
As for Belle, Arien studied all the details to create a historically accurate ball-dress. She put a lot of effort into the small crystals and rhinestones to make a Broadway-esque corset.
Can you give us a hint about what you plan to do for the Finals?
We were looking for the perfect combination of magic, showmanship and sparkling costumes that represent how KaKiKu is!! We really enjoy making fantasy skits and we always try to choose old-school tv shows and movies that bring us the chance to do something beautiful and spectacular. So, after racking our brains for weeks (a three-girl character performance is not easy to find!!) we decided on a project that made the most impact in our hearts from the beginning: vintage, magical and touching!
