Interview with the British solo representative

Let’s keep on with our series of interviews across the Channel, with Katie from Parallel Works who won the British selections in the solo category in a costume from Bloodborne.

How do you feel about the upcoming ECG Finals?
Katie from Parallel Works: I'm nervous about the finals but also very excited. Nervous to finish my outfit and stage props as I have been rather ambitious but excited to meet loads of new people and show my cosplay to a big audience.

Why did you choose this character for the selections?
Katie: My selections character was the Hunter from the game Bloodborne. I choose this character because not only is Bloodborne one of my favourite games of all time but the costume design had a lot of challenges I wanted to tackle.

Which part of your costume are you the proudest of?
Katie: I was most proud of my weapons. I've never made a moving prop before or worked with wood and metal but the visual impact it had on stage was paramount and I hope to use the skills I learnt making my Saw Cleaver for my Finals outfit!

Can you give us a hint about what you’re planning to do for the Finals?
Katie: A hint for my Finals outfit? Well I'll be cosplaying from another game, this one of Western origins. The outfit will involve lighting, latex prosthetic's and a lot of crying. I'll be posting updates on 'ECG Team UK' Facebook if anyone is interested in my progress.

And now you’ll see Katie from Parallel Works on stage at Japan Expo for the finals on July 7: let’s wish her the best of luck!
